South Portland

This seemed like a good idea at the time.

Bowser & Bruin. Oh, boys.

When my couples ask me if they can bring along their furry babies to their shoots, I always say yes. I love me some furry snuggles! For Cairsten & Jimmy, my response was no different. After building a relationship with them ever since Kelly & Ryan's wedding, I could not wait to meet their two pups, Bowser & Bruin.

We opted for Bug Light in South Portland for the views of the Portland's Old Port, the harbor, the lighthouse... the list is endless. It is a great area with lots of variety AND it's pup friendly!

Bowser & Bruin did not disappoint. They were super excited about everything. Wanted to meet everyone. Photos, what photos? We're here to PLAY! Meandering around the park with Mutt & Jeff in tow was an experiment in hilarity. When they weren't in the photo, we had them tied to a bench or I was holding their leashes to give Cairsten & Jimmy a break from the chaos. I'm sure they were both thinking "This seemed like a good idea at the time."

Yet, when it gets down to it, even with the chaos... the furry friends in our lives are an integral part of our lives. Yes, they bring chaos. But they also bring lots of kisses, laughs, and uninhibited love. And, as part of your family, it is worth the chaos for shots like this one.

I am still brought to laughs every time I see Cairsten & Jimmy post photos of their pups on Facebook. Thank you for hanging out with me boys and letting me tell your parent's love story. You are lucky boys to have such awesome people to call your own.

Samantha's Bridal Shower at the Saltwater Grille in South Portland,Maine

When Samantha's mother contacted me about photographing Samantha's bridal shower as a surprise, I immediately jumped at the opportunity to see her again and to meet all of her gals. (I captured her engagement photos last year, with her husband to be Ryan, at Two Lights State Park and had an absolute blast with them. Check it out again by clicking here!) Add in the fact that the shower was held at the stunning, oceanside Saltwater Grille in South Portland, Maine, and I was giddy before I even got there!

Samantha's mother and maid of honor planned a really lovely bridal shower for Samantha with fun games, a mimosa bar, and lots of delicious food. One of my favorite moments included pin the ring on Samantha where her guests tried to place the ring on her finger on a canvas print of one of their engagement photos. It definitely resulted in lots of laughs! There were also Samantha Scattergories which included several laugh worth moments over sand, sailors, and sandals as everyone came up with words beginning with the letter "S" to fill in the blanks.

I am so excited to see all of these ladies again next month as Samantha & Ryan tie the knot!! Be sure to follow me on Facebook and Google + to see their wedding sneak peek as soon as I post it. In the meantime, here is a look back at the bridal shower. What an amazing day it was!

Kim & Philip :: Engagement Photos at Willard Beach in South Portland, Maine

Kim & Philip... where do I even start? I first started chatting with these two (ok, so it was really just Kim) back in June for their May 2013 wedding in Cape Elizabeth. What struck me first was their amazing sense of humor and the way they both just glow when looking at or talking about each other. Love... that's what love looks like.

To capture just that, we got together at Willard Beach in South Portland last weekend to capture their engagement photos. For Kim & Philip, Willard Beach is where it all started. They actually met there in person for the first time after exchanging emails and phone calls back and forth for some time. It was amazing to be able to capture them together in such an important place to them. Somewhere that I know will always hold a special place in their heart. We spent the late afternoon smiling at Philip being goofy, at Kim saying that they should get married ("You know... maybe sometime in mid-May"), and then laughing so hard as they each egged the other on to be even more cute than they already are together. Combine that with the picture perfect weather and I think they'd like to copy it all and have it just like that on the big day. And, somehow, I know it will be perfect and filled with smiles and laughter. I can't wait!

Kim & Philip, thank you so much for choosing me to capture this special time in your life together! I have had a blast getting to know you both and I can't wait for May! xoxo

All of Kim & Philip's photos are posted in their gallery, but you’ll need the password from the lovebirds in order to see them and order printed goodies. In the meantime, here is a sneak peek from their engagement session. To see more, be sure to head over to my Facebook page and hit the “Like” button!

Christie & Patrick :: Wedding at the Peter McKernan Hospitality Center in South Portland, Maine

Christie and Patrick were married at the Peter McKernan Hospitality Center on the Southern Maine Community College campus in South Portland, Maine. I first met the love birds over a cup of coffee and a french cruller. As they told me their story, the whole idea of opposites attracting was blaring in my head. They met in the Old Port on a New Year's Eve. Patrick was in a band and Christie was out celebrating with friends. He's a classic rocker while she'd rather blare the latest hits. She loves lots of mascara and lip gloss while his hair is normally just as wild as his faces while he plays the drums. And yet they fit together like peanut butter and jelly.

It might have been over 100 degrees the day before the wedding, but mother nature was on our side for the big day and brought in some [very slightly] cooler temperatures. From Christie's gorgeous flower in her hair (made from her dress after alterations were done) to her Matron of Honor Clare's speech and from Patrick's huge smile whenever he looked at Christie to the fabulous cake (from Let Them Eat Cake) and flowers (from Heather Caron Floral Design), I don't think the day could have been any more perfect at all.

Here is a sneak peek of what the Newlyweds have to look forward to from their wedding day. I'll let the photos speak for themselves!

Heidi & Martin :: Fall Wedding at the First Parish Congregational Church in Gorham and the Marriott Sable Oaks in South Portland

Heidi & Martin were married on October 30th after five years together. It was an amazing, albeit chilly, day complete with smiles and tears and tons of hugs. Heidi got her gorgeous, bright flowers and Martin showed his geek off with the LED place cards and center pieces. It was such a perfect day! Congratulations, Heidi & Martin! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.

Jillian & Jay's Fall Wedding at Dunegrass Country Club in Old Orchard Beach

Jillian & Jay were married on October 23rd on, what I dare say, was an absolutely perfect fall day here in Maine. Their ceremony was held at the First Congregational Church in South Portland, Maine, and their reception was held at the Dunegrass Country Club in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. The entire day could not have been more perfect. Jillian had the most stunning bridesmaids and Jay's groomsmen were right there to drag him to the ceremony. You are both such incredible people and I am truly blessed to have been there to capture your first day of this new chapter in your life. I dare say it was my favorite golf cart ride ever. Congratulations, Jillian & Jay!
