Happy First Anniversary, Jeannie & Derek!

It is hard to believe that Jeannie & Derek were hitched a year ago already! These two love birds tied the knot under the big pine trees at Derek's family business, which has been in the family for several generations. It was the quintessential spring day with tons of John Deere inspired accents to add to perfect finishing touches. The tented reception at their family's private estate was a huge hit and lasted well in to the night. I am sure that, like me, their family and friends will never forget what an awesome day it was! It certainly was the perfect way to start their married life together.

Happy 1st Anniversary, Jeannie & Derek! And congratulations on the newest addition to your family. What an awesome first year it has been for you two!

Melissa & Rocco :: Wedding & Reception at Arrowhead Acres in Uxbridge, Massachusetts

Melissa and Rocco were introduced to me by Melissa's man of honor, Nick, who I first met in 2010 at Tarryn & Sean's wedding. Knowing how awesome THAT wedding was, you could understand my undying excitement to capture Melissa and Rocco's wedding! Many months of planning later, Melissa and Rocco tied the knot on April 14, 2012 at Arrowhead Acres in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. I don't think I could have asked for a better way to kick off my 2012 wedding season!

I first heard from Melissa almost a year in advance of their wedding day. Not meaning to sound like a dating website, but we hit it off right away and made plans to get together here in Maine. My husband and I met with Melissa and Rocco over lunch; the boys chatted about their mutual obsessions (meaning anything with an engine) while Melissa and I chatted about their wedding day plans (and whispered about her wedding dress). And, with that, the countdown to their day was on and it flew by faster than any of us thought it would. April 14th arrived and I don't think that there is a bride (& groom) in the world who was blessed with a more perfect spring day than these two. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining, and the temperatures were simply perfect; not chilly enough to make you reach for a coat, but not so warm to turn your glistening glow to anything more than just that. The only way their wedding day could have been more perfect is if poor Melissa hadn't been struck by a nasty head cold, but she was a trooper and you couldn't even tell that she was feeling under the weather.

Here is a tiny sneak peek of the photographs from their gorgeous day. To see more, head over to my Facebook page (and don't forget to "like" the page while you are there)!

Melissa and Rocco, thank you so much for giving us the honor of capturing your wedding day! And, Melissa, I hope that you start to feel better as soon as possible and that you two can head to your honeymoon in Puerto Rico as soon as possible.

Sarah & Joe :: Wedding at The Bethel Inn Resort in Bethel, Maine

Every so often, I run in to instances of "small world syndrome" when I find an obscure connection with someone. And then there are weddings, like Sarah and Joe's, when the connections just begin to be too numerous to count. Suffice to say that, between my husband and I, were knew the bride, bridesmaids, minister, and hairdresser. In fact, I'm sure I'm missing someone. It was like a big ol' reunion for me! But I'll save that for a blog post this winter.

Sarah and Joe are two genuine, down to earth people who were married with their family and friends surrounding them with love. The weather on the day of was overcast with a high chance of rain and thunderstorms. Eyes were looking out windows every chance they got. But mother nature had other plans for Sarah and Joe's day. The storms passed to the north and just barely missed us. Their entire day went off without a hitch. From the girls' gerbera daisy bouquets to the guys' unique boutonnieres to their first dance as husband and wife to the Irish dance tunes all the way to line dancing during the reception, I don't think they could have asked for a better way to start the next chapter of their life together. Even with the amazing lightning and rain storm that capped off their day at the end of the reception.

Sarah and Joe, thank you for letting me have the honor of capturing your day! I'm looking forward to hearing what happens next.

Lani & Nathan :: Backyard Wedding in Sugar Hill, New Hampshire

Lani and Nathan.... where do I even start? Honestly, I could gush about these two (and their amazing families) for pages and pages. Lani first contacted me about their wedding in her hometown of Sugar Hill, New Hampshire, last summer. Being a bride (and groom) planning from out of state, we spent a long time emailing back and forth about their vision for their day and, of course, about what their interests were (besides each other). They met while in the Caribbean, they both love the outdoors, they love their family.... oh, yes, and he's a (fantastic, super amazing) nature photographer. No pressure! But any pressure that I was feeling leading up to the day (and, yes, I was certainly feeling it) disappeared as soon as I met them. Nathan is a warm hearted guy deeply in love with the absolutely stunning Lani. They are both the most genuine people I have ever met. Together, they just glow. You could tell just by the way they looked at each other that they are bonded deep down.

And that is how the whole day was. Filled with this glow that emanated from all of their loved ones that traveled from far and wide to be there to witness the start of this new chapter. Coming home to Lani's hometown and the backyard of her parent's gorgeous home was a natural decision. The entire day fit them like a well worn, toasty winter glove.

Lani and Nathan (and family), thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day as your two families officially joined together. You are absolutely incredible individuals and a power house as you come together. I am incredibly honored to have been there to witness it. I cannot wait to see where your adventures take you next. I know it will be amazing.

Brittany & Dan :: Wedding at Great Island Common in New Castle, New Hampshire

Ahhh... Brittany and Dan. Where can you start with two people as absolutely adorable as them? Brittany: The next Martha Stewart. Seriously. The details of their day that she spent the past two years working on were nothing short of amazing. From the ornately folded paper boutonnieres to the fast spinning pinwheels carried by her bridesmaids to the absolutely lovely beachy centerpieces.... it was just incredible. Dan: He is the perfect balance to Brittany. He's a geeky guy (like me) and can bring serenity to the chaos that crafty minds typically have. His love for Brittany is so deep. While standing in front of him while waiting for his bride to get to him during their first look, he just kept saying how badly he wanted to turn around and see her. I practically cried just then!

And thus was how the day went. It was perfect. It was emotional. It was filled with loved.

Brittany and Dan tied the knot on the beach at Great Island Common in New Castle, New Hampshire followed by a tented reception on the lawn under a gorgeous tent. The party kept on going all that way until sunset thanks to an awesome ice cream cart, delicious barbeque food, and even a mean game of limbo. I dare say that all of the guests just didn't want to ever leave! I know that I certainly didn't!

Check out more of their sneak peek photos on my Facebook page (don't forget to "like" it!) as well as in their gallery sneak peek on my website. Stay tuned for their full gallery any day now. :-)

Congratulations to Brittany and Dan! Thank you so much for letting me capture your day. I cannot wait until we get together again!

Jeannie & Derek :: Backyard Wedding in Windham, Maine

Jeannie & Derek are two down home kind of people that have really warm hearts. You might remember them from their engagement photos that I took for them last fall, which included Jeannie being stuck on a tiny John Deere tractor. Fun, when you think of Jeannie & Derek, is definitely high on the list of adjectives. They were married at Derek's family store in Windham followed by a tented reception at Derek's family estate that last well in to the evening. It was an absolutely amazing day filled with hints of John Deere colors from the green of Jeannie's shoes to the yellow of the bouquet flowers to the glowing paper lanterns towards the ceiling in the tent. Oh, and did I mention that they arrived at their reception on a John Deere tractor as well? Obviously it was an awesome day and a complete blast for all who were fortunate enough to witness their union.

Jeannie and her girls got ready at Janelle No. 5 in Windham, Maine. I have worked with Janelle on a couple of occasions and the girls always look amazing! This time was obviously no different. Jeannie spent her "down time" practicing her vows and her mom spent her "down time" trying to hold back to tears of happiness. Jeannie's makeup was done by her (very pregnant) matron of honor as well as one of her friends. The two of them made quick work of it! It was a blast to watch.

Jeannie looked absolutely stunning in her dress! I swear it was meant to be worn by her. Her shoes were custom dyed to match her colors and her yellow calla lily bouquet just popped against the white of her dress. Derek just about lost it when he saw her and you can see why. She was gorgeous! Jeannie & Derek's ceremony was heart felt and perfectly personalized to represent their love for each other. I dare say that there were more than a few damp eyes in the audience as they read their views to each other. Once they were finally pronounced to be husband and wife, we captured a few portraits on the perfectly manicured lawn and with a John Deere tractor before moving on to the real cerebration at Derek's family estate. DJ Jaz kept the party rocking well in to the night complete with his amazing laser light show that made the tent glow in a multitude of colors.
