My final featured wedding from the latest issue was the gorgeous shot of Erin looking down at the foliage and the Lucerne Inn during her wedding portraits last fall. Erin & Ben tied the knot at the gazebo at the Lucerne Inn before heading to Sunset Rock for some quite time together (with me along for the photographic evidence, of course). Erin's dress was even more incredible in person with immaculate beading and a gorgeous neckline. It is no surprise to me that she graces a full page opening the Bangor area destination section of the latest issue.

My Latest (Glowing) Review on Wedding Wire

I am a wedding photographer not because I need to pay my bills. As you can tell, I'm pretty open and honest about that. I am very blessed to have two amazing careers that I love and that enables me to balance the two off of each other so that I continue to be inspired by them both. One of the biggest reasons that I am a wedding photographer is simply the amazing couples that I have the honor of working with. I love being there on their wedding day to capture their love story as they start the next chapter together. Therefore, I always invite my couples to review my services once their wedding images have been delivered so that they can give me, and every other potential couple, their unbiased feedback.

This week I was nearly brought to tears by Erin & Ben, who wrapped up my 2015 wedding season at the beginning of October, as they posted their review over on Wedding Wire. I am so humbled by each of the 58 reviews that have been posted on Wedding Wire and The Knot. I truly love what I do and I am so lucky to work with such amazing couples. <3

Suzanne Simmons Photography is by far the best photographer to hire in the state of Maine. We made an exhaustive search and were seriously lucky to have found her. Her work ethic is outstanding and her eye for taking the perfect shot is exceptional. She was available before our wedding whenever we needed her, answering all questions in a timely fashion. She is incredibly organized and professional; her website, questionnaires and payment process are straightforward. She makes you feel comfortable throughout the day and comes prepared with this special bag filled with whatever you or anyone else may need! She not only repaired my bustle halfway through the day, but also stepped in to help my friend with much needed wipes when she spilled wine on her dress. Susie was an invaluable part of our day. If you are like me, you hate being at a wedding where the photographer is always in the way and all you see is their backs during the entire ceremony. You will not have that issue with Susie - no one will see her during the ceremony and she has a knack for blending with the crowd during the reception. You would not know any of this from her photos, though, as she captured every small detail of the entire day. As for the photos themselves, they are nothing short of exceptional. I am still in awe of their quality. Susie helped make our day incredibly special, providing us with photos that will preserve our wedding memories for our families and us for a lifetime and beyond. She is the best photographer we could have hired and I am so happy with our decision. You will be in the best hands with Susie.

Erin & Ben's Fall Maine Wedding at the Lucerne Inn in Dedham

It is hard to believe that my 2015 weddings have officially come to an end as I wrapped up the season with Erin & Ben last weekend at the Lucerne Inn in Dedham, Maine. When Erin first contacted me about their destination wedding near her parent's home in Maine last March, I was immediately struck by her planning and organization as well as their love and respect for one another. We "met" for the first time through a video chat, which is common for many of my couples who are often very busy or live very far away. I love technology! Chatting with Erin felt like I was catching up with an old friend. Fast forward to our first in person chat in June when they were in Maine wrapping up a few details and it was just natural. I absolutely love it when I work with couples who I jive so well with! The same goes for their pup, who I cuddled on the patio at Panera while her "mum & dad" grabbed their coffee. I love puppy cuddles!

As their wedding day approached, I anxiously watched the foliage report for around the Lucerne Inn in Dedham, Maine. The prediction was fairly epic. Peak was going to be just about there on the day of. Then I saw that Mother Nature had a cloudy sky on the docket, too, and I just about jumped for joy. A perfect day in every way.

Their wedding day certainly was perfect. They had many friends and family who traveled from afar to join them as they celebrated the start of this chapter of their life together. Erin got ready in the bridal suite surrounded by several of her closest ladies. Everyone was so relaxed and excited to see the preparations unfold. With strict instructions, Ben prepared the finishing touches in the reception tent and the ceremony site. As expected, it all came together with such perfection.

From Erin's walk down the aisle with her parents by her side to their ceremony conducted by one of their good friends, Erin & Ben's portraits overlooking the valley from Sunset Rock to their first dance as husband and wife, and to the amazing sunset they watched from the Lucerne Inn to the last song of the night... the whole day was perfection. And, after getting to know them so well in the past seven month, I can't say that I was surprised.

Erin & Ben, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your wedding for you and for wrapping up my 2015 season so perfectly. I am so honored that you picked me! Here is a sneak peek of your photos as I get to work finishing your full gallery.

Sarah & Ray :: Wedding & Reception at the Lucerne Inn in Dedham, Maine

I first met Sarah & Ray, and their adorable furry son, over a cup of coffee. What struck me first about them is just how in love they are with each other. Ray's eyes light up when she looks at Sarah and Sarah absolutely glows when she looks at or talks about Ray. To say they love each other seems like such an understatement. It's like calling ice cream just a frozen treat (in my house it's a food group). I'm not sure there is a word for what these two feel for each other. And I think that anyone else there on that gorgeous day that they tied the knot would say the same thing. Sarah's smile was the most infectious, glowing smile I think I have ever seen. And one look at Ray's face whenever he looked at his bride and my knees just about gave out. *sigh* Oh, love! Much like their love, the day that they said "I do" was the definition of a dream wedding day. The sun was blazing, but the hilltop location of The Lucerne Inn allowed for the most glorious breeze; just enough to cool you off, but not to the point that you reached for a sweater. Sarah managed to hold back the tears as she put on the finishing touches before her trip down the aisle although a special gift from her parents almost put her over the edge. The ceremony, conducted by one of Ray's friends/coworkers, was personal and heartfelt from start to finish. After the formal portraits on the grounds of the Inn, the newlyweds and I escaped to Sunset Rock with their Matron of Honor and Best Man to capture some more personal shots with what I might just call the most amazing view I've ever had for portraits before in my life. It was so awesome! Back at the Inn, the incredibly amazing wedding coordinator from the Inn, Danielle, made sure the day ran as perfect as it possibly could. The catering staff from the Inn provided some of the most gorgeous plates of food ever (the filet was potentially the very best I've ever had!) and the mother of the groom created a GORGEOUS cake that I could smell the moment I arrived (yay for sugar and delicious flavors!). Jeff from Mobile DJ Services in Waterville kept the dance floor hoping all night long and drew in a bunch of "wedding crashers" that helped the couple celebrate the amazing day. From start to finish, it was nothing short of amazing.

Thank you, Sarah & Ray, for letting me play a part of your incredible day. I am so honored! I hope that you have had an amazing time in Saint Lucia! Be on the lookout for your photos to be ready shortly. In the meantime, here is a sneak peek from their wedding day. To see more, be sure to head over to my Facebook page and hit the “Like” button!
