Marleni & Simeon's Sunday River Fall Wedding at North Peak Lodge

Oh, lovely day! With Marleni & Simeon’s gallery finished and the USB drive on its way to them today, I wanted to take a moment and end the week on a high note and look back at their incredible day a few weeks ago. I first connected with Simeon’s family 2.5 years ago when his brother, Dale, married Emily in Kennnebunkport. Since then, I have been very lucky to meet up with them for family portraits and consider all of them to be my friends. When I drove up to Sunday River for Marleni & Simeon’s wedding, the foliage absolutely took my breath away and I live here! If you could pick a day out of a weather book, it would be their day for sure. Light fluffy white clouds, vibrant blue sky, stunningly beautiful trees… sigh. I could go back to that day right now and be very happy.

Marleni & Simeon got ready for their wedding in their respective rooms at the Jordan Hotel at Sunday River in Newry, Maine before being whisked off to the main lodge by the Sunday River shuttles. To make it a first for me, we loaded onto the chondolas to ride up to the top of the mountain for their wedding ceremony! Beyond being such a fun way to travel to the wedding, I also loved that it gave everyone time to take a deep breath and center themselves before the main event. I know that I certainly took advantage of that! Upon arriving at the summit, our breaths were taken away as we looked at the view behind Simeon’s father, who performed the ceremony. You could feel the love as the two of them were officially declared married!

Following their formal portraits and after the sun went down (and plunged the temperature outside), we all went into the Peak Lodge for a delicious meal prepared by the staff at Sunday River. The dance floor was packed as soon as it could be thanks to Kevin from Double Platinum Celebrations and Marleni & Simeon’s incredible friends and family who were dancing machines all night long. The night capped off with an amazing fireworks display that the newlyweds surprised their guests with at the end of the night. I dare say they were better than any show I’ve seen near my home! There were many oohs and ahhs from everyone. It was the perfect way to cap off the start of their next chapter together.

Marleni & Simeon, thank you so much for having me capture your wedding day. It was absolutely a dream come true to work with both of you and see your family again. And I really hope I get to photograph another wedding on top of a mountain. So fun!
