Darci & Jim's Bailey Island Library Hall Wedding in Harpswell, Maine

Jim & Darci likely hold the record for how soon after their engagement they talked to me about photographing their wedding. But that's what happens when they are your dear friends! Jim and I work together at the same "9 to 5" job and we've bonded over the years with our shared history of private boarding school and years spent rowing. I knew that there was something special about Darci as soon as he started gushing to me about the new lady in his life. His huge smile, twinkly eyes, and rosy cheeks were a dead giveaway that this lady had him falling. When they got engaged, it was no surprise to me! The next statement from Jim was that I would be there either as a guest or their photographer and it was up to me. Given how much fun we had playing with their dog, Porsche, for her puppy portraits AND the fact that I barely know how to attend a wedding as a guest any more, I jumped at the opportunity to capture the story of their day.

Arriving at the Quahog Bay Inn in Harpswell, I knew that I was in the right place as I heard Darci's laugh as she was getting ready with her sister and dear friend. Seeing her Maggie Sottero wedding gown hanging inside her room just about took my breath away. The sparkly jewelry she had to put on complimented it perfectly. And her garter her sister had made for her from her mother's house dress? Yup. I was fighting back tears. With all of the details pulled together, Darci and her ladies departed via the Maine Limousine Service for the ceremony at Johnson Field Preserve at Mackerel Cove in Harpswell.

Jim & Darci were wed under a huge, old tree at the harbor's edge with a plethora of fishing boats floating behind them. The cloudy sky kept the squinting at bay and they guests cool as they recited their personal vows to each other before officially being proclaimed husband and wife by their friend Patty. After taking their formal portraits at the Preserve, it was time to get their party started at the historic Bailey Island Library Hall. After a tented cocktail hour out back, the newlyweds and their guests dined on delicious food from Diane Gagne, indulged in wedding ccake made by Jim's friend Dawn, and danced their socks off to music provided by Kevin Duran of Double Platinum Celebrations well into the night. As we watched the sunset over the bay, it was easy to say that the day could not have been more perfect for Darci & Jim.

Darci & Jim, thank you so much for having me capture the story of the start of this chapter of your life together. It was such an amazing day!
