She. Campaign

Last month I was fortunate enough to attend the Inspire! Retreat for photographers that was held in Portland, Maine. Although I am still processing all of what I learned over the incredible three day experience in such a way that I can share a post about it, I wanted to take a moment to share a campaign that I learned about while I was there.

The mission of the She. Campaign is to: "To break stereotypes and empower females to confidently embrace their inner awesome.  We strive to motivate and unite a community of positive females through social media, inspirational events, speaking engagements, and community installments." As an educator and mother of a young girl, I see how important it is for our youth to see positive role models in their lives. Just look at the media that we are bombarded with on a daily basis! Imagine growing up with all of the images that you see around you every day.

While I was at Inspire!, I met Kiera, who is one of the founders of the Campaign, and she was looking for participants for it to be photographed. So I volunteered! After Nicole, the other founder, interviewed me, they assembled my she. statement image to help them create the positive community that the campaign is striving for.

So, ladies, how are you awesome? What three words would you use to describe yourself?
