Alaina + Mick's Westin Harborview Wedding in Portland, Maine
I have been looking forward to Mick + Alaina’s wedding since they first reached out to me back in December. A springtime wedding in Portland at the Westin? Sounds amazing! Unfortunately for me, COVID had other plans (as I mentioned in my last post). Fortunately I had a plan, and a great friend, in place already and Clare went to capture the couple tie the knot. But I got to relieve the day through their images before sharing them with you.
What stands out to me the most about Mick + Alaina is that they are so true to themselves. I am often asked what is “normal” for weddings and my answer is always that there isn’t a normal! Weddings have evolved to become an incredible opportunity to have the celebration be a unique representation of your own personalities. And Alaina + Mick did just that. I loved their details such as stunning jewelry and hair pieces. They included all of their favorite celebrities, cartoons, and anime in a plethora of ways such as the songs they selected for their ceremony and the presents they gave to their attendants (um… how fun are the swords and wands!).
More importantly, I love how truly happy Alaina + Mick make each other. From the looks on their faces and their close embraces, you can really tell that the long journey that brought them to their wedding day was so worth it.
One of their guests said it the best: “Love recklessly. Believe in a better world.” Amen to that.
