Jacinta & Jim's Union Bluff Meeting House Wedding in York, Maine

Jacinta & Jim's Union Bluff Meeting House Wedding in York, Maine

They say that good things come to those who wait. Sometimes the journey during the waiting is hard and uncertain. Sometimes it's sunshine and rainbows. For Jacinta & Jim, their wedding day was a testament to their relationship being built upon a foundation that will last them for a long time to come. It was not always an easy road based on my conversations with them as well as the toasts given by their friends & family at their wedding. Yet, as the saying goes, good things really do come to those who wait. And oh my goodness are Jacinta & Jim deserving of all the good that their union is bringing to them.

Kate & Brendan :: Wedding & Reception in Westford, Massachusetts

This post is coming to you straight from the ether as I reflect on all of the amazing that 2014 held. It was a busy year from start to finish and my lovely lil' blog did not get as much loving as I wish it did. My goal is to change that for 2015. So, let's catch up!

Like many of my couples, Kate & Brendan came to me through another couple that I had the pleasure of working with (thank you, Kari & Joe!). But the story changes when I say that Brendan's sister, Carol Ann, was the one who reached out to me first. And I think that really says a lot about Kate & Brendan and their wedding day. Family. For them, and for me, family is everything.

Kate wore her mother's wedding gown. Carol Ann helped immensely with the wedding planning, especially since Kate & Brendan live on the other side of the country. Their family and friends came to celebrate from all over North America. Kate's sons and several other children were heavily involved in the festivities. The entire day was the story of Kate & Brendan.

Although we only met that day, I left knowing who they are deep down. Warm, loving, caring, and funny! It was such an amazing day!

Catherine & Will :: Wedding & Reception at the Barn on Walnut Hill in North Yarmouth, Maine

I first met Cate & Will last October for their engagement session. The weather forecast was not awesome; it said good chance of rain. That meant no sun was just about a guarantee. Given that it was a portrait session, we had the option to reschedule. But Cate & Will was game and so was I. The rain held off and we had a gorgeous, misty day. What resulted are some of my favorite portraits of all time. So, when their wedding day started hitting the 10 day forecast and it started showing rain, I wasn't worried. These two and a little rain? Eh! No big deal!

And I was right. They took the less than ideal forecast and tossed it right back in Mother Nature's face. Will had the radar up on his computer screen all morning while Cate was off getting her hair done with her ladies at 4 Friends Salon in Portland. As "go" time got closer, the decision was made. The ceremony would be outside. Yipee! Meanwhile, Cate and her ladies were busy trying to help, with the assistance of a doctor, one of the bridesmaids fight off a nasty stomach bug. Between the less than ideal weather and the stomach bug issues, I dare say these two can handle anything together!

And thus the ceremony went off shortly after the scheduled time with the guests sitting on plastic bags to protect their bottoms from the damp benches. Cate was absolutely glowing and beaming all day with her infectious laugh warmed us all up as they professed their loved for each other through thick and thin. The colors they picked for the bridesmaids' dresses, the guys' suits, and the flowers complimented the day perfectly. After sealing the deal with a kiss, the newlyweds meandered down the boardwalk path to The Barn on Walnut Hill to celebrate the start of the next chapter of their life together. We quickly snapped their bridal party portraits outside before heading in to the main house for the family photos. Then it was time to get the party started with the help of the always talented Joe Farren. And party they did. It was an awesome day!

Thank you so much for letting me play a role in your big day, Cate & Will. I am so incredibly honored to have been there for you both and to have met your awesome family.

Here is a (big) sneak peek from the big day. There are many more to come and I'll be posting even more on my Facebook page. So many sure you head over there and hit the "like" button to see them!

Happy First Anniversary, Lauren & Patrick!

Lauren & Patrick's wedding day a year ago wasn't nearly as gorgeous as their one year anniversary. It was a rainy day that most couples dread, but these two love birds saw the silver lining and the day was absolutely perfect. These two love birds traveled all the way from Pennsylvania to have their nuptials on the rocky Maine coast at the Harpswell Inn. In fact, their oceanside portraits were some of my all time favorites, especially with Lauren looking through a spy glass. In traditional Maine fashion, their reception featured a lobster bake, which led to many "out of towners" being taught the proper way to eat one. It was certainly a funny sight! Jones’n kept the dance floor packed all night long while the guests feasted on a variety of pies, both whoopie and fruit varieties. It was such an amazing day!

Happy First Anniversary, Lauren & Patrick (& Eloise)!
