Megan & Ian's Wedding & Reception on the Ocean in Phippsburg, Maine

Often times, by their wedding day, I already feel like my couples aren't my clients. They really are like long time friends. For Megan & Ian, who booked me over a year in advance for the big day, it turned in to a family affair when we did their engagement session and they got to meet my baby girl, Bri, and my husband, Alan. They even decided to book a second photographer/assistant to make sure every aspect of their day was covered. My go to person? My husband. I love shooting weddings with him!

Arriving at Megan's family camp on the morning of was like a reunion with good friends we hadn't seen in a while: excitedly chatting about their new home, sharing stories of Bri's latest adventures... ahhh... love, love, love! Add on to all of that the absolutely gorgeous view, perfect weather, fluffy white clouds. It was an absolutely amazing day before it even started. Oh, and can I mention that Ian is British? Yes, complete with the accent. Love him!

It is so hard to describe their entire day in words at this point, not because it was in August, but because it was one fast blur of awesome. Their flowers from Marianmade Farm still make me swoon. The munchkins running around, or being soothed by the "baby whisperers", still makes me giggle. Working with my favorite DJ, Jim, from Premier Entertainment always means that I'll have a blast. The view... oh, the view! To look out on that bay every day would be heaven. The tears shed as the vows were said and the toasts given. Watching the sun set, and the moon rise, over the water with the stars sparkling up above. And the way that Ian looked at Megan all the time with that look that tells you that he knows how lucky he is to have her (and she to have him). It was all just incredible. It was certainly one of those days when calling this a job just feels wrong.

Although the newlyweds have long ago received their images from me, I wanted to be sure to share a sneak peek from their day for those of you who weren't blessed enough to be there. Megan & Ian, I think of you often and we are still very honored that you chose us to be there with you for your wedding. Love you guys!

Megan & Ian :: Engaged!

Megan & Ian met each other through friends and found a common interest in England. For Megan, Ian served as the go to man for her previously planned trip to England shortly after she met Ian. For Ian, England is home. (Yes, British accent and all.) So it must have been fate that these two found each other. And, now, a couple years later, fate has brought them to planning their oceanside wedding in Phippsburg, Maine at Megan's family camp. According to Ian, the camp is just an "awful" perk of being with his beloved bride. The gorgeous location right on the ocean is just downright "Maine". In one word: perfect!

Like many of my amazing couples, Megan & Ian found me thanks to another couple's wedding I photographed (thanks, Jen & Jared!) and it took a phone call for Megan to snatch me up for their August wedding before anyone else had the chance. Before the big day arrives, we got together at the site of their upcoming nuptials to explore and, more importantly, capture some photographs of the two (and their two furry babies). The weather was absolutely gorgeous with a cool breeze coming off the water. (Dear Mother Nature, please replicate said conditions next August. Thank you!) Megan couldn't stop smiling the whole time. And Ian just couldn't take his eyes off of her (awww!). They told me of how they met, of how Ian's advice for places to visit in the UK were quickly derailed by a stop in Oxford (yay pubs!), and we chatted about babies (Megan works with young family and, well, I have Bri!). We laughed together, walked through stinky seaweed, and got slobbered on by puppies. To say that next August can't come soon enough is an understatement. I can't wait to spend the day with them again!
