Michelle & Jory's Fall Wedding at the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell, Maine

Oh, Michelle & Jory. What an amazing day! When they first contact me about their wedding more than a year before their wedding day, I was immediately taken by how genuine they were and their unique story that brought them to this point in their life. When you start the story of how you met with "in jail..." you know it's going to be a good one. (And no, they weren't inmates. They were coworkers.) When Michelle and I set up our coffee date to sit down and chat, the humor continued as we found ourselves both at Dunkin' Donuts in the same town. On the same road. But not at the same location. We certainly had more than a few laughs about it while we figured that out! When we then met for their engagement portrait session at the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell almost exactly a year ago, our shared laughter resulted in some of my favorite shots from the day. I love it when things click so well!

Their wedding day itself was a textbook perfect September day. Crystal blue skies, fluffy white clouds, a slight breeze, cool temperatures... I dare say any couple dreams of weather like theirs. Michelle and her ladies started their day at Lux Beautique in Hallowell, Maine for their hair and make-up time before they went to the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell to continue their preparations. With the boys lounging down the hall, the ladies assembled their finishing touches before the ceremony.

The front lawn of the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell features many old growth maple trees that created the perfect canopy covering Michelle & Jory's wedding ceremony. Somehow the llamas got the memo and stayed away from the main event, as much as that disappointed Jory and his groomsmen. Fortunately, the llamas came our for the portrait time which continued the laughs and smiles. And made Jory and his best man, in particular, really happy. The grounds of the Maple Hill Farm Inn feature a wide variety of portrait spots for us to visit before getting the new Mr. & Mrs. and their attendants to their much anticipated reception.

As the hall filled with their guests, the party really got started. Michelle & Jory's friends and family immediately gravitated to the photobooth from High Tech Entertainment. The props were big hits all night long from a flowerly little hat to big glasses to sailor hats. Michelle and her dad had a hilarious dance prepared that energized the crowd. The dance floor itself was hopping with vast amount of entertainment provided by Jory's best man singing several popular hits.

It really was a perfect day for Michelle & Jory to start the next exciting chapter of their life together. And Alan and I are so pleased that we were able to be there to capture it for them.

Michelle & Jory, thank you for having us! We had such a great time with you both. Here is a sneak peek to tide you over as I finish the rest of your images.

"From the first time I met Susie she made me feel so comfortable like I was talking with a friend. I was nervous for our photos because my husband is not big on getting his picture taken but she had him laughing and chatting the whole time. I could not imagine having had anyone else photograph our special day. Our pictures came out beautiful, when we saw them we couldn't believe it was us! The day of the wedding she had this awesome fanny pack filled with all the little things you don't even think of extra bobby pins, tissues, etc. You can tell she loves what she does."

Michelle & Jory's Fall Engagement Portraits at the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell, Maine

Here it is. The last official day of summer. And I'm reaching for a blanket to warm up with the very fall like temperatures we are experiencing today in Maine.

What better way to ring in fall than to look back at Michelle & Jory's engagement portraits from last fall? And, with their wedding coming up this weekend (YIKES!), I couldn't help buy reminisce. That day was the most perfect fall day. A slight crisp to the air. The leaves were starting to turn from green to reds and oranges and fall from the trees. It was, in every way, awesome.

Michelle & Jory's story is one that I'll always remember. They met behind bars. No, not as inmates! As coworkers. Michelle was a nurse and Jory a corrections officer. And when the story of how a couple met is THAT good, you can't help but never forget it.

They are a perfect match. Michelle is bubbly and energetic. Jory has this reserved side to him that balances her out. But boy do they know how to laugh! Some of my favorite shots during their engagement session at the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell, Maine are when they are laughing. Sometimes it was a quip one made to the other. While other times it was something they were watching behind me. (I'll keep the what as our little secret.)

I have had such a blast getting to know both of them since Michelle first contacted me in September of 2014. From our initial coffee date when we realized we were at different Dunkin' Donuts right down the street from each other to their engagement portraits and then seeing the wedding planning and bridal shower festivities through our connection on Facebook. When I see Michelle & Jory on Saturday, it won't be as my clients. I'll be there to captures my friends getting married. And I can't wait to see it all as we come full circle to this day.

Congratulations, Michelle & Jory! Enjoy these last few days and get ready to have an amazing day this weekend. We can't wait to see you two!
